Betsy Gomperz to speak at a Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education program, "Handling Chapter 209A Domestic Violence Cases"

On Tuesday, January 6, 2009, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm in Waltham, Massachusetts, Betsy Gomperz, an associate in the firm’s Boston office where she practices in the Litigation Section, will speak on a panel at a Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) program titled, "Handling Chapter 209A Domestic Violence Cases."
Gomperz, along with other panelists, will discuss how to obtain and extend 209A orders as well as evidentiary issues such as marital privilege and disqualification, and the possibility of cross-complaints. Panelists will also guide participants through important criminal considerations, such as dissecting the police report, obtaining victim advocate notes, and "Crawford" issues, as they apply to the defense.
