Bill Kannel and Adrienne Walker will be presenting on “Municipal Insolvency: Chapter 9 and Out of Bankruptcy Court Solutions” at the Boston Bar Association. The seminar will cover current trends in municipal bankruptcy and available alternatives to Chapter 9. Recent cases in Jefferson County, City of Harrisburg, Central Falls and Vallejo will guide our discussion on key topics including: who can file a Chapter 9 petition, if creditors force a filing, what the key differences are between a Chapter 9 and a Chapter 11, where Chapter 9 ends and competing state law takes over, and what alternatives to Chapter 9 are available are available to a municipality wishing to restructure its debts.
