Project Finance

Mintz Levin's project finance work representing project developers, lenders, investment bankers, municipalities, and others, particularly in the fast-growing areas of waste management, resource recovery and other alternative energy and cogeneration facilities; privatization of government functions; and traditional utility financing, has established the firm as a nationally recognized leader. For our pioneering work as developer's counsel for one of the first revenue bond issues to finance a major solid - waste - to - energy facility on a leveraged lease basis, Mintz Levin received a Private Sector Initiative Commendation from President Ronald Reagan. Our leadership position in that field has been maintained since then.

Attorneys from the Business and Finance, Public Finance, Environmental, Real Estate and Litigation Sections combine their knowledge and experience in handling the financing of large projects with significant environmental implications, including facilities for handling and processing solid waste, waste water, sewerage sludge, wood waste and agricultural waste. In addition, the group is involved in electric generation and cogeneration projects of all sizes using a variety of fuels, including hydro, gas, coal and oil. The group's capabilities in representing project developers, governmental bodies and investment banks, including its expertise in the complex privatization, real estate, tax and environmental issues involved, allow it effectively to structure project financing transactions for the firm's clients. In recent years the group has been involved in an increasing number of foreign projects in areas ranging from Mexico to Russia.
