The breadth and depth of the litigation capability available to our environmental clients is not often found in a single firm, even in firms with substantial environmental practices. The firm has developed a particular expertise in handling complex, multiparty cases in state and federal courts around the country. This document-intensive litigation has led us to develop expertise in the handling of information, including the use of specialized databases which we create in-house.

Mintz Levin has defended clients in enforcement actions under most of the significant state and federal environmental statutes, including the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, the state Solid Waste Disposal Act, the Clean Water Act, the Clean Air Act, the Citizens Right to Know Act, and the Wetland Protection Act. In these cases, the technical expertise of our group members has helped us to prepare expert defenses and fashion innovative case resolutions.

Where criminal liability has been alleged, whether at the corporate or individual officer level, the Environmental Section's litigators work closely with the white-collar defense group for which Mintz Levin's Litigation Section is nationally known.
