Topic

International licensing: how to avoid expensive mistakes

While the licensing landscape remains turbulent, the opportunities available to licensors and licensees are potentially rich and fruitful. Deal makers need to craft win-win strategies to overcome the many obstacles and hurdles in the way of successful agreements.  IAM’s fifth annual Patent Licensing will provide licensors and licensees fundamentals, best practices and innovative techniques for negotiating win-win deals.

Jim Wodarski will be moderating a panel entitled, "International licensing: how to avoid expensive mistakes."  The panel will cover the significant expansion of multi-jurisdictional licensing deals in both European and Chinese markets and the increased risks associated with cultural, legal, and transactional differences.  The panel will also discuss:

  • Bridging the gap between the U.S. and foreign markets
  • Reviewing the current landscape and the impacts of trade conflict
  • Different approaches to FRAND/SEP issues - and what they mean
