Mintz Partner Merv Allen will speaking on a panel entitled "Best Practices: Making Sure Your Guarantee, Indemnity, Suretyship Agreements Work The Way You Want" at ICSC + Canadian Law's conference on Monday April 8, 2024. 

The panelists will discuss why we use indemnities instead of guarantees, and then quickly transition to how to best address issues we routinely face when dealing with indemnities, including capped agreements (by time or dollar amount), how demands are to be made, dealing with guarantors/indemnitors who are outside of Canada, which if any of the boilerplate terms can or should be waived or amended, bankruptcy issues, and, anti-corruption, anti- money-laundering and anti-terrorism laws.
