Four Mintz Attorneys Recognized by Lawdragon’s 2020 500 Leading U.S. Bankruptcy & Restructuring Lawyers

Mintz is pleased to share that four attorneys have been recognized as among Lawdragon’s 500 Leading U.S. Bankruptcy & Restructuring Lawyers for 2020. Specifically, Member and Chair of the firm’s Bankruptcy & Restructuring Practice William Kannel and Members Daniel Bleck, Paul Ricotta, and Adrienne Walker were included in the inaugural edition of the guide.

As Chair of Mintz’s national and highly regarded Bankruptcy & Restructuring Practice, Mr. Kannel has extensive experience in corporate and municipal reorganizations and debt restructurings both in and out of court. He represents creditors and debtors across a wide range of industries throughout the country in all phases of distressed debt negotiations, bankruptcy litigation, and distressed asset acquisitions. He is recognized as one of the leading attorneys in the nation for his work representing bond trustees and bondholders in Chapter 9 bankruptcies and other governmental and municipal insolvencies.

Mr. Bleck focuses his practice on representing institutional investors, lenders and creditors in financial restructurings, litigation, and creditors’ rights. He is predominately known for his representation of bondholders, bond trustees and other creditor groups in various distressed continuing care retirement communities and health care related entities nationwide. In addition, Mr. Bleck has a broad practice in representing distressed tax-exempt debt holders in a number of other sectors ranging from hospitality and manufacturing to clients in distressed acquisitions and divestitures.

Mr. Ricotta has more than 35 years of experience representing debtors and creditors in workouts, restructurings, and commercial bankruptcy proceedings and in commercial finance transactions. He has developed a national reputation representing bondholders and indenture trustees (particularly in connection with tax-exempt bond debt) in workouts and Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases throughout the country. He is also counsel to debtors, unsecured creditors' committees, secured lenders of various lien priorities, major trade vendors, landlords and tenants, equity holders, and buyers of many different types of assets in bankruptcy proceedings, both domestically and internationally.

Ms. Walker is an experienced restructuring and commercial finance attorney with significant bankruptcy litigation experience and deep capabilities in workouts and bankruptcy matters. Her commercial lending work involves advising both borrowers and lenders on complex debt structuring, including transactions involving traditional banks and private equity. She works with clients in many industries with particular focus on the life sciences, health care, retail, senior living and manufacturing. In addition, Ms. Walker is an adjunct professor at Suffolk University Law School, teaching advanced courses in business bankruptcy, and is also a frequent speaker and writer on topics in the bankruptcy and commercial lending fields.
