Mintz Receives its Seventh Consecutive Perfect Score on Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s 2014 Corporate Equality Index

For the seventh straight year, Mintz, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C. has received a top rating of 100% on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index. The report examines and rates large U.S. employers and their benefits and protections for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender employees.

The 2014 Corporate Equality Index rated over 900 businesses nationwide based on various factors including non-discrimination policies, benefits for domestic partners and transgender employees, organizational LGBT competency, responsible citizenship and public commitment to outside LGBT-specific efforts. As a top rated firm, Mintz will also be included in the Human Rights Campaign’s “Best Places to Work” list.

“It is an honor to once again receive this significant recognition,” said Jennifer B. Rubin, Chair of Mintz’s Diversity Committee and a Member of the firm’s Employment, Labor & Benefits Section. “Mintz was one of the first employers to extend domestic partner benefits to our gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender employees, so it is particularly important that we continue our tradition of ensuring parity in this area and are gratified that HRC has recognized the firm for these efforts.”

Mintz is committed to encouraging and supporting diversity in its firm culture. A 25-member Diversity Committee, consisting of partners and non-attorney professionals, convenes monthly to introduce and review policies which aid in the recruiting, retention and mentoring of its diverse employees. The firm also promotes the establishment of affinity groups such as the LGBT Group, Minority Attorneys Group (MIATTY), and the Women’s Initiative, to provide peer to peer support and mentoring.
