Mintz’s Kanasha Herbert Selected to Lawyers of Color Inaugural “Hot List”

Kanasha S. Herbert, an attorney in the Corporate & Securities Practice of Mintz, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C., was recently selected by the Eastern Region of the Lawyers of Color to its inaugural “Hot List.” Ms. Herbert is one of 100 early-to-mid career minority attorneys to be selected for the honor.

Lawyers of Color, which was founded as On Being A Black Lawyer, has been recognized by the American Bar Association, National Black Law Students Association, and National Association of Black Journalists. Founded in 2008 as a news and resource center, the company has grown into a social media firm providing research, career development, and brand marketing opportunities to clients.

Honorees for the “Hot List” were chosen through a two-pronged process by a selection committee that spent months reviewing nominations and researching bar publications and legal blogs in order to identify promising candidates.  In addition, the committee reviewed nominations from mentors, peers, and colleagues.

Ms. Herbert’s practice includes working with public companies and early-stage companies in matters such as corporate governance and mergers and acquisitions. For public companies including medical device manufacturers, hardware manufacturers, and digital data imaging and software simulation companies, Ms. Herbert has served as ongoing general counsel on issues related to federal securities laws and securities exchange listing standards. For early-stage companies, mostly in the life sciences and technology industries, she has provided counsel on formation and corporate governance and has drafted and negotiated various venture capital transaction documents representing both companies and venture capital investors.
