VLP and Mintz Levin are pleased to announce a new partnership with the Edward W. Brooke Court Service Center, legal services organizations and area law firms that will provide pro bono advice and potential representation to self-represented low-income litigants in Massachusetts.

The Civil Appeals Clinic will operate as a weekly appellate clinic at the Brooke Court Service Center, with the potential for further representation on appeal. The Training will explain the history and purpose of the six month program, and provide the nuts-and-bolts for volunteer attorneys who will staff the appellate clinic. Appellate attorneys and legal services attorneys also will discuss appellate procedure and strategies, and highlight special considerations for housing and family law appeals. Experience with appeals helpful, but not required. Partner firms of this pilot project include Foley Hoag, Goodwin Procter, Mintz Levin, Nutter McClennen and Fish, Ropes and Gray, and WilmerHale.
