Speaking Program:

Robert Falk, General Counsel, Human Rights Campaign
Mr. Falk will provide updates on HRC’s latest initiatives at the federal level, including insight and commentary on the likely impact of President Obama's historic endorsement of same-sex marriage, current legal challenges to the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and the complex issues that DOMA raises for LGBT couples and families.

Peter Miller and Reena Thadhani, Members, Mintz Levin
Mr. Miller and Ms. Thadhani will discuss cutting-edge and practical issues faced by same-sex couples with respect to their estate, gift, retirement, and life insurance planning, and provide updates on the latest developments in approaches to pre-marital and co-habitation agreements for same-sex couples and their families.

Doug Hauer, Member, Mintz Levin
Mr. Hauer will provide insight about evolving immigration law issues, including green card planning, family unification issues in light of DOMA, late-breaking news with U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the Department of State, creative immigration and global mobility planning for LGBT families and couples, EB-5 visas as a strategic path to a green card for a dual national same-sex couple, the validity of a Massachusetts marriage certificate in a foreign country and the doctrine of comity and current immigration legal considerations for transgendered individuals.
