Developments in Chapter 9 Municipal Bankruptcies

On February 1, 2012, Bill Kannel and Adrienne Walker of Mintz Levin will be speaking to the BMAF about developments in Chapter 9 municipal bankruptcies.  While Meredith Whitney-like predictions have not come to pass, there has been an uptick in Chapter 9 filings, threats of Chapter 9 and continuing financial stress at the local government level.  Bill and Adrienne will review the basics of Chapter 9, how it differs from Chapter 11, and talk about some of the key developments in some recent Chapter 9 filings.
