Expanding its nationally renowned Energy and Clean Technology practice, Mintz Levin Cohn Ferris Glovsky and Popeo, P.C. announced that Paul Dickerson, a former U.S. Department of Energy senior official, has joined the firm as Of Counsel.
A prominent authority on issues of clean energy innovation and energy efficiency, Mr. Dickerson served as Chief Operating Officer of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) from 2006-2008, overseeing the office’s $1.8 billion budget and helping to significantly advance the development of alternative and renewable energy technologies and energy efficiency policies.
Immediately prior to joining Mintz Levin, Mr. Dickerson was a Partner at Haynes and Boone, where he founded the firm’s Clean Tech practice. Earlier in his career, he served as Chief of Staff for the United States and Foreign Commercial Service at the U.S. Department of Commerce.

Mr. Dickerson currently serves on the Texas Bioenergy Policy Council, by appointment of Governor Rick Perry, and on the board of directors of the World Affairs Council of Houston. A frequent speaker and writer, he is a certified public accountant, a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and the South Texas College of Law.
Since January 2006, Mintz Levin attorneys have closed more than 250 transactions in the energy and clean technology sector including: venture capital transactions (representing companies and investors), initial public offerings and follow-on offerings, private placements, M&A deals, technology licensing and joint venture transactions, totaling approximately $4 billion in transaction value. In addition, the group handles the development, financing, and construction of thousands of megawatts of energy generating facilities.
