Pedro F. Suarez Appointed to Board of Directors of University of New Mexico Non Profit Corporation

San Diego, CA -  Pedro F. Suarez, an attorney in the San Diego office of Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C., has been appointed to the Board of Directors of STC.UNM.  STC.UNM is a non-profit corporation formed and owned entirely by the University of New Mexico to protect and transfer its faculty inventions to the commercial marketplace.  STC licenses innovative technology developed at the university, including optics, microfluidics, and high performance materials as well as therapeutics, diagnostics, medical devices, and drug discovery tools.  Mr. Suarez has been appointed to a four year term beginning in January 2008.

Mr. Suarez is Of Counsel in the firm's San Diego office, practicing in the Intellectual Property section.  His practice is focused on all aspects of patent law, including preparation and prosecution of patent applications, rendering of opinions on infringement and validity, licensing, due diligence investigations, litigation, and client counseling.  His emphasis is on software, telecommunications, wireless communications, semiconductors, medical products, image processing, and business methods for the banking and financial industry.  Between his early career as an engineer, and his work as a patent attorney, Mr. Suarez has over 20 years of experience.

A graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, Mr. Suarez earned his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.  He has an M.S. in electrical engineering from The Air Force Institute of Technology and a J.D., with honors, from The George Washington University Law School.
