Mintz Levin Attorney Megan Gates to Participate in BayBio 2009 Panel, "Crisis Control: How Companies Can Stay Calm and in Control"

Boston, MA – Megan Gates, Co-Chair of the Securities Practice Group at Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, PC., will be a panelist at BayBio 2009 in the "Crisis Control: How Companies Can Stay Calm and in Control" discussion on April 16, 2009 from 2:15 – 3:30 p.m. at the South San Francisco Conference Center.   

The Crisis Control program will provide practical advice and discussion on how companies can develop the internal culture and infrastructure needed to prepare and effectively manage issues and crises and to anticipate for shifts in public opinion that could affect a company's ability to achieve its business objectives. An improperly managed issue can be devastating to a company's reputation and bottom line.  Ms. Gates will be joined in the discussion by Charles Butler, Senior Director of Investor Relations and Corporate Communications at Exelixis Pharmaceuticals, Inc.; Anthony Damaschino, Director of Staffing and Global Human Resources at CooperVision and Former Director of Human Resources at Novartis (Chiron); and Alison Marquiss, Corporate Communications at Perlegen and Former Director of Global Communications at Novartis (Chiron).

Ms. Gates' legal practice focuses on providing counsel to biotechnology and life sciences companies in public and private equity and debt financings and in merger and acquisition transactions with respect to compliance obligations under the Securities Exchange Act of 1934. She frequently advises clients with respect to corporate governance matters, including compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 and has extensive experience with tender offers, exchange offers and going-private transactions.
