Palo Alto, CA – Robert P. Taylor, Managing Member of the Palo Alto office of law firm Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, PC and Bryan J. Sinclair, member in the firm's Palo Alto office, will discuss "Standards Setting Organizations & Patent Pooling" at the 21st Annual Silicon Valley Association of General Counsel's All Hands Meeting on December 3, 2009 at the Santa Clara Convention Center.
Drawing on decisions from key legal cases, Messrs. Taylor and Sinclair will present practical advice and explore how standards setting organizations can limit difficulties presented by changes in information technology and intellectual property rights, and the guidelines, restrictions and potential anticompetitive effects of patent pools. The presentation will also address how overlooking these considerations can be harmful to a company's claims of intellectual property and patent rights.
