Six Mintz Levin Members Named to San Diego Daily Transcript's 2010 "Top Attorneys" List

San Diego, CA – Six Mintz Levin attorneys have been named to the San Diego Daily Transcript’s 2010 Top Attorneys list.  The Top Attorneys list is determined by a peer voting process used to identify the best lawyers in private, corporate, academic and government practice. Each year, San Diego County lawyers are asked to nominate their peers with whom they have had professional experience and feel are worthy of recognition. The Mintz Levin 2010 Top Attorneys are:

Mr. Cleary is a member in the firm's Intellectual Property Section focusing on patent law, including preparation and prosecution of patent applications, rendering of opinions on infringement and validity, licensing, due diligence investigations, and client counseling, with an emphasis on electrical, telecommunications, software, and mechanical technologies. Mr. Cleary is also the founder of the action sports and apparel practice at Mintz Levin, representing top clients in the surfing, skateboarding, kite surfing, and fitness industries.

Mr. Kurata is a member in the firm's Corporate practice and heads the firm's West Coast technology transactions practice. The technology transactions practice specializes in strategic collaborations, technology licensing and other business transactions directed to the use, transfer and development of technology and intellectual property assets. Mr. Kurata advises both growth and mature companies in the life sciences, information technology, and clean technology industries. He provides strategic and creative advice for the commercialization and exploitation of technology assets and has successfully structured and negotiated numerous high-profile technology-based transactions with and for global industry leaders.

Mr. Suarez is a member in the firm's Intellectual Property Section specializing in all aspects of patent law, including the preparation and prosecution of patent applications, the rendering of opinions on infringement and validity, licensing, due diligence investigations, litigation, and client counseling, with an emphasis on wireless communications, software, cloud computing, semiconductors, medical products, wireless medical devices, and consumer products. He has extensive experience handling patent matters for emerging and global high-technology companies, and draws on his litigation experience to prepare and prosecute patents with an eye towards enforcement.  Mr. Suarez also serves on the board of directors of STC.UNM, a non-profit organization responsible for protecting and monetizing technology innovations for the University of New Mexico.

Mr. Glaser is a member in the firm's Corporate Section and co-chair of the firm's Venture Capital and Emerging Companies Practice Group, focusing on serving emerging growth companies and the companies that fund them. He has substantial experience in venture capital financings, securities offerings, mergers and acquisitions, SEC compliance, licensing arrangements, and other general corporate matters. He has represented venture capital firms, hedge funds, and their portfolio companies in venture capital and PIPE financings as well as both issuers and underwriters in a wide variety of securities transactions, including IPOs, secondary offerings, and private placements. Mr. Glaser represents companies in a broad variety of industries, including Internet, software, wireless, semiconductors, computer hardware, medical devices, biotechnology, health care services, clean technology, and the investment management industry. 

Mr. Biel is a member in the firm's Real Estate Section focusing on advising landlords and tenants on all aspects of leasing and corporate facilities transactions; individual and institutional owners and developers of shopping center, office, and commercial projects; and developers and other property owners in complex financial structuring and restructuring transactions. Mr. Biel advises a number of foreign and domestic biotechnology and pharmaceutical clients in connection with their facilities requirements, and has developed an expertise in the interdisciplinary requirements of these companies in the leasing, financing, and development of their laboratory and manufacturing facilities.

Ms. Moorhead is of counsel in the firm's Litigation Section focusing on insurance law, environmental litigation, and general commercial litigation. She has represented insurers in environmental insurance coverage litigation, asbestos insurance coverage litigation, product liability coverage litigation, construction defect coverage litigation involving additional insured coverage, first-party coverage and bad faith, and life and disability insurance coverage litigation.
