Series to Focus on Intellectual Property, Licensing and Legal Issues
San Diego, CA – Mintz Levin intellectual property attorneys Fred C. Hernandez and Pedro F. Suarez will be featured speakers at the Entrepreneurial Best Practices Series at University of Califorinia-Berkeley's Haas School of Business on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 from 6:30-8:30 pm. The series will focus on the practical aspects of entrepreneurial activity.
Mr. Hernandez and Mr. Suarez will discuss the benefits of various intellectual property strategies commonly employed by start-up companies and will provide an overview of several intellectual property legal terms and how they relate to entrepreneurs and their businesses.
Mr. Hernandez practices in Mintz Levin's San Diego office. He specializes in advising early stage and emerging growth companies in strategic management of patent portfolios. Mr. Hernandez has particular expertise in advising early stage medical device companies in offensive and defensive competitive strategies regarding patent portfolios.
Mr. Suarez practices in Mintz Levin's San Diego and Palo Alto offices and has a broad range of experience handling patent matters for emerging and global, high-technology companies. His practice is focused on all aspects of patent law, with an emphasis on software, wireless, medical products, semiconductors, and consumer products. He is on the board of directors of STC.UNM, a non-profit organization responsible for protecting and monetizing technology innovations for the University of New Mexico. In 2010, Mr. Suarez was named to the San Diego Daily Transcript’s 2010 Top Attorneys list.
