Mintz Levin Elevates Three IP Attorneys to Member in London Office

London, England - Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo Intellectual Property LLP, has elevated Emma Bevan, Isobel Finnie and Alison V. Haile to Members of the firm.  Ms. Bevan, Ms. Finnie and Ms. Haile practice in Mintz Levin’s Intellectual Property Practice and are based in the London office. 

“This is a significant moment in the development of the London office which opened almost eight years ago.  Having grown to 10 patent attorneys, we have established ourselves as a significant player in the UK market for the provision of IP prosecution services especially in life sciences and related industries,” said Julian Crump, a Member in the Intellectual Property Section and Managing Partner of the firm's London office. “The elevation of Emma, Isobel and Alison is evidence of the continued growth and vibrance of the practice and of their superb talents as attorneys. We look forward to further expansion of the London office and welcome them as Members to the firm.”

Ms. Bevan, Ms. Finnie and Ms. Haile are UK Chartered Patent Attorneys and European Patent Attorneys.  Each has experience in all aspects of patent practice, including patent strategy, drafting, prosecution and opposition and appeal proceedings, due diligence and freedom to operate. 

Ms. Bevan’s practice is focused on the patenting of pharmaceutical formulations, medicinal chemistry, medical devices, industrial processing, and mechanical devices.  She also has substantial knowledge in packaging, automotive engineering, and aircraft seating systems.  She has led and coordinated a number of multi-national proceedings for clients and in recent years she has been particularly involved in the coordination and running of various European patent actions involving several jurisdictions. Ms. Bevan has also provided freedom to operate advice and represented clients in Opposition and Appeal proceedings before the European Patent Office (EPO). She earned her Masters in Chemistry from the University of East Anglia in 2001 and a certificate in Intellectual Property Law from Queen Mary University. 

Ms. Finnie’s technical competence extends across a wide range of life science technologies, especially in the fields of biotechnology, biochemistry and health care.  She has gained considerable experience in the fields of dermatology, biomarkers and diagnostics, vaccines, cancer therapeutics, diabetes therapeutics, antibodies, stem cells, DNA sequencing technologies and medical devices.  Ms. Finnie earned her Master in Biochemistry (MBiochem), First Class with honours, from the University of Bath and also holds a certificate in Intellectual Property Law from Queen Mary and Westfield College, London. 

Ms. Haile also works extensively in the life sciences and chemical fields.  Her interests lie particularly in the areas of pharmacology, pharmaceutical and industrial chemistry and medicine, including the protection of new pharmaceutical formulations, new chemical entities and their use in medicine.  In addition to representing her clients before the European Patent Office, she coordinates and manages complex portfolios of patents and patent applications worldwide and advises on third party and competitor rights.  Ms. Haile earned her BSc. (Hons.) in Biological Sciences from the University of Durham, her MSc. in Biochemical Pharmacology from the University of Southampton, and a certificate in Intellectual Property Law from Queen Mary and Westfield College, University of London.  She also has research experience in the field of asthma and allergy.
