Mintz Levin Represents HSBC Bank USA in United Air Lines Denver Bond Litigation
March 31, 2004
On March 30, 2004, the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Illinois issued an opinion in municipal bond litigation brought by United Air Lines as part of United's ongoing bankruptcy proceedings in Chicago, Illinois. The litigation involves approximately $500 million in tax-exempt bonds related to improvements at airports in San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York and Denver.
The court's opinion rejected United's claim that its payment obligations relating to the Denver airport bonds should be treated as pre-petition debt and ruled in favor of the Paying Agent for the Denver Bondholders and the City and County of Denver.
Mintz Levin attorneys William Kannel and Tim Langella represented HSBC Bank USA, as Paying Agent for the Denver Bondholders in this suit.
