A team of Mintz Levin attorneys and paraprofessionals led by Andy Urban, Steve Friedberg, Deb Daccord, Susan Berson and Susan Phillips served as co-counsel with Davis, Polk & Wardwell in representing CVS Corporation as CVS and The Jean Coutu Group agreed to acquire the Eckerd drugstore chain from J.C. Penney for $4.5 billion. At the closing of the transaction scheduled for late July, CVS will acquire approximately 1,200 Eckerd drugstores in 9 southern states, along with related distribution centers and Eckerd's pharmacy benefit management / mail-order business.
