Jane Doe Inc. Honors ML Strategies' Jan Rose

5/11/2007

Recognized for her advocacy on behalf of victims and survivors of sexual assault

Boston, MA -  ML Strategies' Director of Government Affairs, Jan Z. Rose is being honored at the 8th Annual Jane Doe Inc. Gala on Monday, May 14, 2007.  First Lady of the Commonwealth Diane Patrick is serving as the Event Honorary Chair, and over sixty state elected officials have signed on in support, including Senate President Therese Murray and Speaker of the House Salvatore F. DiMasi.

Veteran lobbyist Jan Rose will receive the M. Patricia Cronin Spirit Award for Activism in Public Policy for her leadership and commitment to ending sexual assault and domestic violence. The award is given in memory of Pat Cronin, who headed up ML Strategies' state government affairs practice and lost her battle with ovarian cancer in 2000.  Jane Doe, Inc. (JDI) said it could think of "no better way to honor Pat's legacy than to recognize the accomplishments of her protégés."  Also being honored at the event is Nancy Scannell, the Director of Policy and Planning at the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children and former Director of Government Affairs for Jane Doe.

JDI's Executive Director Mary R. Lauby stated, "JDI is leading the charge for increased public resources to keep programs from crumbling after years of budget cuts.  We could not be successful without the talent and expertise of people like Nancy and Jan.  They have devoted their lives to giving a voice to those who are too often silenced."

Jan Rose, Director of Government Affairs for ML Strategies, has extensive experience representing client interests before both the Massachusetts General Court and the Executive Branch. She provides legislative analysis, strategic political advice and works closely with decision makers in state government on legislative and regulatory issues. She specializes in advocating on behalf of health care, pharmaceutical and various nonprofit institutions. She also has experience representing financial services, energy, environmental, and technology clients.  Ms. Rose has helped JDI advocate for the needs of survivors and build the organization's reputation and influence on Beacon Hill.  She also serves on the Board of Directors of the M. Patricia Cronin Foundation to Fight Ovarian Cancer.

"This well-deserved honor is a testament to Jan's passion and hard work on behalf of Jane Doe," said Stephen Tocco, President and CEO of ML Strategies.  "There is no higher merit than recognizing Jan's efforts with an award named after her mentor, Pat Cronin, who dedicated herself to advocating on behalf of the victims of domestic abuse and who was a dear friend both to Jan and all of us at Mintz Levin."

The Jane Doe Gala will be held at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel. Tickets are $150 each.  For more information visit: www.janedoe.orgvoices.
