Tom is a member in the Corporate practice. In 2004, he founded, and currently chairs, the firm's Energy and Clean Technology Practice Group, which serves over 200 clients. Since 2006, the Energy and Clean Technology Group has completed over 120 transactions, including 40 in 2009 alone.

Tom regularly represents emerging growth energy and clean technology and life sciences companies, as well as larger established public companies. He routinely counsels clients on their growth and development, advises their boards of directors and participates in an array of transactions, from private and public offerings to merger and acquisitions and technology transfer matters. Tom’s practice also includes organizing venture capital funds and representing them in their portfolio investments.

Tom’s corporate finance experience includes the completion of over 100 venture capital and private equity financings, which have raised over $1 billion, representing both the funds providing the capital and the emerging growth companies seeking funding. Tom has been involved in the formation, financing and sales of numerous energy and clean technology companies in markets such as renewables, smart grid projects, water technologies, waste treatment, biofuels, electric vehicles and green building, among others. Representative transactions also include advising a Fortune 500 global company with respect to the multi-billion dollar international outsourcing of its information technology functions, the recapitalization of a public company and the complex merger of three biotechnology companies into a fourth public biotechnology company.

Tom also has experience in advising investment banks in private placements and underwritten public offerings of equity securities, and in their role as financial advisor in mergers and acquisitions.
