Emma is experienced in all areas of intellectual property, including international patent work of all technical areas. Her current practice is focused on the patenting of pharmaceutical formulations, medicinal chemistry, medical devices, industrial processing, and mechanical devices, but she has also gained substantial knowledge in other technical areas, including packaging, automotive engineering, and aircraft seating systems.


Emma deals mainly with patent prosecution, portfolio management, and strategic IP planning. Over the past years, she has led and coordinated a number of multinational proceedings for clients. In recent years, she has been particularly involved in the coordination and running of various European patent actions involving several jurisdictions. Emma has also provided freedom to operate advice and represented clients in Opposition and Appeal proceedings before the European Patent Office (EPO).


Emma has also spoken on various themes relating to the practice of intellectual property law at International conferences.

Prior to joining Mintz Levin, Emma worked as a patent attorney in patent and trademark private practice at two major London firms. There, she earned experience in all aspects of drafting, filing, and prosecution of patents, trademarks, and designs. Emma is a UK Chartered Patent Attorney (2007) and European Patent Attorney (2007).
