John is a trial lawyer with over 40 years of experience in litigating patent, trademark, antitrust, corporate, and employment matters for companies throughout the United States. He is also an experienced mediator and arbitrator.

In addition to litigation, John’s intellectual property practice includes counseling clients, including a major pharmaceutical manufacturer, on patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret, and licensing issues. John is also knowledgeable about legal ethics and professional discipline.

John is a frequent speaker on intellectual property litigation issues at AIPLA meetings. He is also a committed advocate of diversity in the legal profession, and he serves on the firm’s Diversity and Pro Bono committees.

John began his career as a litigator at Paul Weiss Rifkind Wharton & Garrison. He co-founded Parker Auspitz Neeseman & Delehanty, which became the New York office of Morrison & Foerster. Before co-founding the New York office of Mintz Levin, he was a litigation partner at O’Sullivan Graev & Karabell.

  • Representation of a leading offshore oil drilling equipment manufacturer in patent litigation with its principal competitor, including the successful appeal to the Federal Circuit and the negotiation of a highly lucrative license agreement
  • Representation of a major university in enforcement of its customer relationship management (CRM) software patent against an infringing manufacturer
  • Mediation of a false advertising dispute between the leading manufacturers of artificial sweeteners
  • Representation of the manufacturer of high-protein nutrition bars in patent litigation against its principal competitor
  • Representation of the world’s largest stock transfer company in numerous securities, contract, UCC, and fiduciary obligation litigations
  • Successful defense of the criminal prosecution of a client for alleged tax fraud relating to the interstate sale of artwork
  • Representation of a European paper machine manufacturer in an arbitration in Singapore against an Indonesian customer
  • Mediator in a biotechnology dispute concerning the license for an innovative Hepatitis C drug
  • Mediator in a false advertising dispute between major consumer products companies concerning artificial sweeteners
  • Mediator in a dispute with a major automobile manufacturer concerning automotive repair services
  • Arbitrator in a dispute concerning patent royalties on a billion-dollar arthritis drug
  • Panel chair in an arbitration concerning patent royalties on an erythropoietin drug
