IPO Ultimate Survival Guide

Thursday, June 19, 2008
4:00 pm - 5:30 pm

San Diego Convention Center
Room 31 ABC
111 W. Harbor Drive
San Diego, Calif.

Topic Description

Despite the choppy markets, many companies are beginning to prepare for an eventual entry in the public markets. Unfortunately, few realize the tremendous preparation—often beginning a year in advance—required for a successful IPO. In this panel, a boutique as well as a global banker, a venture capitalist, a firm lawyer, and an in-house counsel will explain what you should expect during the IPO process, how to choose your IPO team, and how to avoid common mistakes. We’ll also hear from a panelist who has been on both sides of the table. A must for anyone with an eye on the next IPO window!

Objectives

  • Provide practical guidance to early-stage life science companies on how and when to secure public funding.
  • Provide an overview of key areas of preparation for an IPO, including valuation, compliance, documentation, board books, etc.
  • Provide the perspective of entrepreneurs and early-stage investors, as well as large and small boutique investment banks, on the goals and strategies involved.
