In the November edition of Mintz Levin’s Energy and Clean Tech Connections, we’ve gathered recent information from a wide variety of sources in an effort to keep you abreast of what’s new in the world of clean energy. We draw your attention to the latest industry developments, news from local governments to Capitol Hill, grant opportunities, and upcoming events.
This month, the Energy and Clean Technology Practice Group would like to congratulate clients Canaccord Adams and FloDesign Wind Turbine. Canaccord Adams served as underwriter for a recent $115 million follow-on public offering of Telvent GIT, S.A., a global IT solutions and business information services provider that improves the efficiency, safety and security of the world’s leading companies. FloDesign Wind Turbine received an $8.3 million grant as part of the Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) program to advance its research on radical new designs for electricity-generating wind turbines. The Practice Group would also like to congratulate ML Strategies client Tenneco, Inc, which was awarded a $24 million U.S. government loan commitment to develop components for advanced technology vehicles.
Earlier this month, the Clean Energy Jobs and American Power Act was voted out of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee. The bill, which was introduced by Senators John Kerry (D-MA) and Barbara Boxer (D-CA) in October, will now be considered by the Senate Finance Committee, where it is expected to face some opposition from Midwestern senators.
Next month, leaders from around the world will descend on Copenhagen, Denmark for a United Nations summit on climate change. Many national leaders have signaled that they will be present, including British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and German Chancellor Angela Merkel. President Barack Obama has said he will attend if his presence will be the difference in securing an international accord on climate change.
We hope that you enjoy this month’s edition of the newsletter.
