In a decision that will impact how Massachusetts employers handle internal complaints regarding wages, the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court recently held that the Massachusetts Wage Act prohibits retaliation against employees who make internal wage complaints to management, in addition to those who lodge formal complaints in court or with the Attorney General's office. Smith v. Winter Place LLC, 447 Mass. 363 (2006).
