The Medicare Prescription Drug Improvement and Modernization Act (the "Act") added to Medicare an important new prescription drug benefit, known as "Medicare Part D." Individuals currently eligible to enroll in the new benefit must do so by May 15, 2006. Thereafter, the annual open enrollment period runs from November 15 to December 31 of each year.
