NEW YORK – Mintz has enhanced its Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance (ESG) practice with the addition of renowned industry specialist Kristyn Noeth. She will be based in Mintz’s New York City office.
Ms. Noeth, who joins from Paul Weiss, brings with her more than 25 years’ experience advising organizations on ESG-related matters, including government regulation compliance, climate and environmental impact, corporate governance, stakeholder responsiveness, policy drafting, and implementing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs.
Ms. Noeth’s rich career has spanned both private practice and in-house roles. She spent 11 years in a number of senior regulatory, compliance, and public policy and governance positions in-house for American Petroleum Institute, Hess Corporation, Nestle Waters and USAA with responsibilities for ESG, DEI, sustainability, public policy, corporate social responsibility, and corporate charitable foundations. She began her career as a White House Presidential Management Fellow, where she worked on a number of initiatives under the Clinton administration, including on the Kyoto Protocol.
At Mintz, Ms. Noeth will advise clients on compliance with a number of ESG-related rules anticipated to come out of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), including climate disclosures, board diversity frameworks, and related frameworks; coach boards on ESG policies; assist companies in implementing DEI programs; and help with public reporting.
Her addition will further enhance Mintz’s already robust ESG practice, which is made up of over 50 professionals nationally from across all corners of the firm’s business. Mintz was one of the first law firms to launch an Energy & Sustainability practice in the U.S.
“This is a key moment in the evolution of our ESG team, which is increasingly in demand by clients who are putting DEI, environmental and climate responsibilities, and corporate governance at the top of their agendas. Kristyn is a true ESG specialist who will bring with her real world experience and success to further complement our already deep bench of attorneys,” said Mintz Managing Member, Bob Bodian.
Ms. Noeth commented, “This is an extremely important and exciting time to be an ESG practitioner, particularly as the government and regulatory bodies – like the SEC – continue to implement environment impact disclosure rules, and everything that falls in between. My practice dovetails nicely into the existing ESG business at Mintz, and the wider firm itself and I look forward to creating a positive impact with Mintz colleagues for our clients.”
Ms. Noeth’s addition is the latest in a handful of senior attorney hires made by the firm in the last year, including Timothy Santoli (Tax), Michael Maline (Capital Markets), Dean Farmer (IP), Serge Banini (IP), Ben Ferrucci (Employment, Labor & Benefits), and Suparna Datta (IP).
