Thomas S. Crane, a Member of the Health Law Practice of Mintz, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C., is speaking on a panel at the 4th Annual Advanced Forum on False Claims and Qui Tam Enforcement. The event is sponsored by the American Conference Institute and is taking place January 30-31 at the Park Lane Hotel in New York City.

During his panel, Mr. Crane will discuss healthcare false claims and the areas that are being actively pursued by the government, focusing on medical necessity and Anti-Kickback Statute discounting cases. Along with fellow panelists, he will explore recent developments and trends in enforcement of the Anti-Kickback Statute, fraud under states’ Managed Care Medicaid programs, and the practical effect of the ruling in Escobar.

The Advanced Forum on False Claims and Qui Tam Enforcement examines the rapidly changing landscape of false claims enforcement. The conference is designed for in-house counsel and chief compliance officers in the healthcare, pharmaceutical, defense, aerospace and financial services industries; as well as for private practitioners in this field, to stimulate discussion and analysis in this rapidly evolving and highly active area of the law.

Mr. Crane is nationally recognized for his experience with fraud and abuse. Practicing in Boston and Washington, DC, his work in defending clients against Anti-Kickback Statute, Stark Law, False Claims Act, and whistleblower allegations includes litigation, internal investigations, voluntary disclosures, and negotiating settlements and Corporate Integrity Agreements (CIAs). In addition to his fraud and abuse defense work, Mr. Crane advises clients on the legal, practical, and fraud and abuse implications of business arrangements and sales and marketing practices. He is an elected Fellow of the American Health Lawyer’s Association, one of its highest leadership recognitions.
