ML Strategies’ David O’Connor to Receive Vanguard Award from Regional Energy Association

David L. O’Connor, Senior Vice President for Energy at ML Strategies, will receive the 2016 Vanguard Award from the Northeast Energy and Commerce Association (NECA), a regional association of energy businesses and experts. ML Strategies is the government relations and business advisory affiliate of the law firm Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C.
The award recognizes an individual who has made a substantial contribution to the development and maturation of competitive energy markets in the Northeast.

“This is a well-deserved award for David,” said William “Mo” Cowan, President and Chief Executive Officer of ML Strategies. “David is a proven thought-leader who has shaped the 21st-century energy marketplace in New England through distinguished service in both the public and private sectors. He is a trusted advisor to the policymakers and companies who provide critical leadership for this vital industry. We are proud and honored that he is on our team.”

Mr. O’Connor has been a thought leader and problem-solver in the public and private sectors for more than 30 years. At ML Strategies, he helps energy and technology companies expand their markets and accelerate their growth. With a deep knowledge of both the energy industry and environmental issues, he helps these companies shape emerging public policies and stay at the forefront of a constantly evolving marketplace. From 1995 through 2007, David served as the Commissioner of Energy Resources for Massachusetts through the tenures of five governors. During this time, he developed and managed many of the state's energy policies and programs. Under his leadership, Massachusetts began its historic transformation of the electricity marketplace, first to provide consumers with a choice of their electricity supplier and then to expand the use of clean, renewable sources of energy.

Mr. O’Connor will be honored at NECA’s 3rd Annual Market Movers Awards Night on October 13 at the offices of Foley Hoag LLP in Boston, MA.
