Mintz’s Thomas Crane to Speak about Kickbacks at AHLA Fraud and Compliance Forum

In the kickoff to this year’s fall conference season, Mintz Levin’s own Thomas S. Crane will be speaking about the Anti-Kickback Statute (AKS) and current developments on Monday, September 26th at the American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA) Fraud and Compliance Forum.  Tom regularly presents at AHLA conferences and other forums about this health care enforcement statute.  This year, he will provide his analysis on the discount statutory exception and regulatory safe harbors, as well as give his insights on recent AKS case law, settlements, and OIG Advisory Opinions. 

Tom is known nationally for his work on the Anti-Kickback Statute since his tenure at the Office of Inspector General at the Department of Health and Human Services, where he prosecuted the Hanlester Network joint venture case and was the principal author of the 1991 AKS safe harbor regulations.  He also recently testified in front of United States Sentencing Commission on proposed amendments to the U.S. sentencing guidelines, policy statements, and commentary.
