After yet another week without power due to a history-making "Snowtober" storm, the Northeast is starting to recover, along with the editor of this blog.
Here are some bits and bytes for a Friday afternoon:
- For those of you now able to log on and read this, here is a recent Mintz article centering on the smart grid and privacy issues -- perhaps a "smarter" grid could help to get outages resolved faster.
- USA Today reports on Facebook's impending (yet again) overhaul of members' profile pages and the new "Timeline" feature.
- The New Hampshire Supreme Court has sided with two New Hampshire newspapers in ruling that the public has a right to know the names and payment amounts of the state's top 500 pension earners.
- The International Association of Privacy Professionals has published a review of new guidance from the French Data Protection Authority (CNIL) addressing the so-called "cookie directive," including a discussion of the ways to obtain user consent and the risks of not complying with the new rules.
