To say that the Affordable Care Act (ACA) has had a major impact on employers and employer-sponsored group health plans is something of an understatement. While many were hoping that the law would be repealed or invalidated, these hopes have not materialized. The ACA core rules governing employers — the employer shared responsibility rules — went into effect in 2015, and the corresponding reporting rules kick in in 2016. The tax on high cost health plans (aka the "Cadillac" tax) goes live in 2018. This program will review where we are now with the ACA, and what's coming, with a particular focus on special problems, issues, and concerns affecting employers — and how they might best respond.
