Mintz Levin’s Susan Cohen Receives Lawyer Monthly’s 2017 Women in Law Award

Susan J. Cohen, Chair of the Immigration Practice of Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C., is the recipient of the Lawyer Monthly 2017 Women in Law award.  Ms. Cohen is the only U.S. immigration attorney to be honored with this award. Lawyer Monthly Women in Law Awards celebrate and highlight the achievements of women in the legal profession across the globe.

Fantozzi, Division Head for the Immigration Practice and Managing Member of the Boston office.  “She is highly respected by her peers and clients alike, both for her skills as an attorney and her passion for her profession and the individuals she serves.”

Recipients of the 2017 Women In Law award were selected based on peer recognition and personal achievement, significant cases handled and client service, among other criteria. 

Ms. Cohen represents employers as well as entrepreneurs, scientists, investors and other individuals seeking to live and work in the United States.  She is actively involved in the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and has chaired and co-chaired a wide range of national AILA committees, including the National Planning Committee for AILA’s Annual Immigration Law Conference.  She was involved in contributing to the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) regulations implementing the Immigration Act of 1990, the Department of Labor regulations implementing changes to the H-1B visa category as a result of the American Competitiveness and Workforce Improvement Act of 1998, and the Department of Labor PERM labor certification regulations issued in 2004. Ms. Cohen also advised the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in drafting the legislation which resulted in the Massachusetts Global Entrepreneur in Residence (GEIR) program

Ms. Cohen has been recognized for her political asylum work by the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts, the Political Asylum/Immigration Representation (PAIR) Project, the Irish International Immigrant Center, the Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly, and Mintz Levin for  her work on behalf of individuals
