Mintz Levin Attorney Matthew R. Howsare Named Vice President of International Consumer Product Health and Safety Organization

Matthew R. Howsare, Co-chair in the Consumer Product Safety Practice of Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C., has been named Vice President of the International Consumer Product Health and Safety Organization (ICPHSO). He will serve as the ICPHSO President-Elect in 2018 and as the ICPHSO President in 2019.

ICPHSO, founded in 1993, is the only organization which attracts a global membership of health and safety professionals and meets annually to exchange ideas, share information, and address health and safety concerns affecting all consumers. The ICPHSO board determines basic policies, sets goals and objectives, elects officers and approves the budget in accordance with the bylaws of the organization.

Mr. Howsare focuses his practice on consumer product compliance and enforcement issues involving the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), individual U.S. states, the Federal Trade Commission, and Health Canada. He regularly helps companies navigating complex product safety compliance issues, including product safety reporting obligations, recalls, regulatory compliance, product safety investigations, civil penalties, import investigations, internal compliance programs and training, the CPSC’s public database, and other regulatory and enforcement matters. He previously served as the Chief of Staff of the CPSC from 2010 to 2013 and as the Chairman’s Senior Counsel in 2009.
