Mintz Levin’s Massachusetts Public Finance Section Achieves Band 1 Ranking
Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business has selected John R. Regier, a Member of Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C’s Public Finance Section, as a leader in his field for Banking & Finance: Public Finance (Massachusetts). Both Mr. Regier and Mintz Levin’s Massachusetts Public Finance Section achieved a Band 1 ranking, the guide’s highest designation. The 2012 edition of the highly-regarded national directory includes forty additional attorneys from the firm across 15 practice areas.
Mr. Regier’s practice focuses on public finance and public agency representation, with special expertise in the legislative process (and legislative drafting) and the Massachusetts Constitution (particularly the provisions relating to pledging the state’s credit). Since 1984, he has been principally responsible for all legal services rendered by the firm to the State Treasurer of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, including service as bond counsel and disclosure counsel. He has acted as bond counsel or underwriter’s counsel in a wide variety of tax-exempt bond transactions, including financings for public higher education, transportation, public schools and water and wastewater treatment.
Mr. Regier has been selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America for his expertise in public finance law. He is a member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers. Mr. Regier received his B.A., with highest distinction, from the University of Kansas in 1971 and his J.D. from Yale Law School in 1976.
