Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C. and ML Strategies, LLC, are pleased to be sponsors of the 2012 U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) National Clean Energy Business Plan Competition.
The firm will be hosting the first day of the two day competition at its Washington, D.C. office on June 12th and will welcome Secretary of Energy Dr. Steven Chu, who will be delivering the keynote address. Secretary Chu will be introduced by Thomas R. Burton, Chair of Mintz Levin’s Energy & Clean Technology Practice and a Member of the Corporate & Securities Section. The firm will also host a cocktail reception for sponsors and participants that evening.
The DOE’s National Clean Energy Business Plan Competition is part of Startup America, the White House campaign to inspire and promote entrepreneurship. The winners of six DOE-sponsored regional business plan competitions will compete for the National Grand Prize at DOE’s Final Competition being held on June 13th. Competitors will present their business plans to a distinguished panel of expert judges and invited guests from federal agencies, industry, national labs and the venture capital community. Winners will be honored at a White House ceremony.
“We are delighted to welcome Secretary Chu and this talented group of entrepreneurs to Mintz Levin,” said Susan W. Berson, Managing Member of the firm’s Washington, D.C office and a member of the firm’s Health Law Section. “Programs like the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Clean Energy Business Plan Competition that encourage young people to develop creative solutions to the world’s energy challenges will help the U.S. to remain a leader in developing clean energy technologies.”
