Susan J. Cohen participates in online E-Verify Program discussion

05.21.2008 - Boston, MA

On Wednesday, May 21, 2008 Susan J. Cohen, founder and chairman of the Immigration Section, is participating in a nationwide webinar discussion on the voluntary E-Verify Program currently being implemented by the US Government.

E-Verify is an internet-based program designed to allow US employers the ability to verify workers’ employment eligibility by accessing the Social Security Administration (SSA) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) databases. While less than 1% of US employers are currently enrolled in the program, and while the current focus is on confirming the employment eligibility of non-US citizens, DHS has indicated that E-Verify may someday supplement or even replace the current paper I-9 process for ALL new hires.
