Mithu is a registered patent agent who has successfully managed intellectual property portfolios for companies in the biotech, ecotech, and medtech sectors. She collaborates closely with clients to develop and implement strategies to protect and monetize their intellectual property assets and to expand their portfolios to meet business development goals.
Prior to joining Mintz, Mithu was a patent agent with a large global law firm, where she provided strategic patent counseling and prosecution for biotechnology clients. Her practice included conducting freedom to operate analyses, due diligence, and competitive landscape analyses as well as drafting patent applications and USPTO responses.
Mithu also served as director of intellectual property and business development management for a small San Diego consulting firm and worked as a patent agent in the Washington, DC office of another large law firm. In addition, she was an IP manager for a Florida-based business development incubator. She has collaborated with clients in a variety of technology sectors, including cellular and molecular biology, immunology, medical therapeutics, diagnostics, drug formulations, drug delivery systems, and clean technologies.
Since 2014, Mithu has taught patent drafting in UC San Diego’s Extension program. Her experience also includes speaking and presenting at US and international conferences and workshops. Her doctoral research focused on the role of peptide-protein interactions in bacterial cell signaling.
