Obtaining US Citizenship

If you are a permanent resident of the United States and meet USCIS requirements, you are eligible to become a naturalized US citizen. In most cases, you must be a permanent resident of the US for at least five years (or three if married to a US citizen) before becoming eligible for citizenship. Applicants are required to meet with an immigration officer as well as take a naturalization test. With our experienced and attentive immigration lawyers counseling you, we can help your case be handled quickly and efficiently by USCIS.

Mintz Levin’s Immigration attorneys have substantial experience guiding eligible permanent residents through the processes and procedures for obtaining United States citizenship. We’re known for the level of service and attention we give our clients as well as for successfully addressing legal issues that may affect clients’ applications. In addition to filing the relevant paperwork, our attorneys will help you prepare for your interview with an immigration officer and the naturalization test. We also assist clients considering dual citizenship or renunciation of US citizenship.
