Ian is a longstanding member of Mintz's bankruptcy and restructuring team and maintains a national, commercial restructuring practice. He represents indenture trustees, bondholders, noteholders, and other sophisticated creditors in bankruptcy, receivership, and other out-of-court and in-court matters. In addition to his finance-related and more general restructuring work, Ian regularly advises commercial landlords regarding tenant financial distress issues. Ian’s experience spans a broad range of industries, including health care, hospitality, manufacturing, transportation, education, energy, and nonprofits.

Experience

  • Lead the multi-year workout of $140 million of hospital revenue bonds issued for the benefit of West Virginia-based Thomas Health in chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings.
  • Lead the successful representation and redemption of $90 million of hospital revenue and general obligation bonds issued by Tulare Local Health Care District in California chapter 9 bankruptcy proceedings.
  • Lead the successful workout and assumption of $130 million of hospital revenue bonds issued for the benefit of California-based Rideout Memorial Hospital.
  • Lead the successful multi-year workout and reinstatement of $120 million of hospital revenue bonds issued for the benefit of Ohio-based Holzer Heath System.
  • Lead the successful workout and redemption of $30 million of hospital revenue bonds issued for the benefit of Oklahoma-based Great Plains Regional Medical Center.
  • Lead the successful workout and restructuring of $25 million of hospital revenue bonds issued by Oklahoma-based Kingfisher Hospital Authority.
  • Lead the successful workout and redemption of $15 million of hospital revenue bonds issued for the benefit of New York-based Eastern Long Island Hospital. 
  • Lead the workout of $10 million of hospital revenue bonds issued by Atoka County Health Care Authority in Oklahoma chapter 9 bankruptcy proceedings.
  • Co-Lead the successful representation and redemption of $45 million of hospital revenue bonds and working capital debt issued for the benefit of Washington-based Astria Health in chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings. 
  • Co-Lead the representation of a surgical hospital facility landlord to Victory Health Care in Texas chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings.
  • Co-Lead the representation of the indenture trustee for $20 million of college-related revenue bonds issued for the benefit of Dowling College in New York chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings.
  • Co-Lead the workout of $15 million of college-related revenue bonds issued for the benefit of the College of New Rochelle in New York chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings. 
  • Co-Lead the successful multi-year receivership, workout and redemption of $45 million of parking revenue bonds issued by Pennsylvania-based Scranton Parking Authority.
  • Co-Lead the representation of the indenture trustee in the multi-year out-of-court workout of $140 million of senior casino revenue notes issued by California-based River Rock Entertainment Authority. 
  • Co-Lead the successful redemption of $30 million of hotel revenue bonds issued by Lafayette Yard Community Development Corp. in New Jersey chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings.
  • Co-Lead the representation of the indenture trustee for $650 million of mine-related senior notes issued by Molycorp, Inc. in Delaware chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings.
