Mintz Adds Leading Tax Attorney Gregg Benson in New York

Mintz announced today that Gregg M. Benson has joined the firm as a Member in its New York office. He has a multifaceted tax law practice that encompasses advising companies and individuals on a wide range of tax issues related to transactions, estate tax planning, and renewable energy projects.

Mr. Benson has significant experience with tax issues involving U.S. and cross-border taxable and tax-free mergers and acquisitions, spin-offs, cross­border tax structuring, partnerships, and limited liability companies. He regularly represents U.S. and international sponsors of, and investors in, private equity and other investment funds, as well as investors and developers in renewable energy projects.

In addition to his transactional work, Mr. Benson counsels U.S. and international high-net-worth individuals, family offices, and closely held businesses on a variety of U.S. and cross-border income and estate tax planning issues.

Mr. Benson also maintains an active pro bono practice that has included representing nonprofit organizations focused on poverty reduction and arts education.

Prior to joining Mintz, Mr. Benson was a partner at a Canada- and U.S.-based law firm. He previously practiced at several international law firms and has worked at major accounting firms, as a director and in a transaction advisory role.

Mr. Benson is the latest addition to Mintz’s rapidly-expanding New York office. In the last four months, the firm has welcomed renowned white collar crime, trial, and appellate lawyer Barry Bohrer; securities litigator Jason Vigna; tax attorney Anne Levin-Nussbaum; and seasoned restructuring lawyers Nathan Coco and Megan Preusker.
