The Supreme Court's highly anticipated Halliburton II opinion preserved Basic's rebuttable presumption of reliance, but empowered defendants to rebut the presumption at the class certification stage by showing the absence of price impact. A year on, this panel of securities litigators and financial economists will debate how the lower courts have applied Halliburton II, the impact of economic analysis and event studies at the class certification stage, and whether Halliburton has transformed securities class action litigation.
