Mintz Attorney David Wraige to Present Energy & Technology Magazine Webinar

David Wraige, a European and Chartered Patent attorney in the Intellectual Property Section of Mintz, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, LLP will present an Energy & Technology Magazine Webinar entitled, “Thinking Outside the Patent Box,” on Wednesday, April 17.

Mr. Wraige’s presentation will explain how the traditional role of patents will change under the new Patent Box tax relief scheme and highlight the strategic issues that need to be considered.  He will discuss obtaining tax relief from UK-based product development, using patents to reduce a corporation’s tax bill and managing a patent portfolio for best effect under the Patent Box scheme. Mr. Wraige will also address the financial implications of obtaining a patent and explain when patent protection is suitable.

Laurence Bard, a corporate tax adviser at Smith & Williamson, a London-based firm of accountants, will also present during the webinar. He will focus on the principal conditions for claiming Patent Box relief, how to plan to enter the regime and maximise the reliefs and whether the UK is now the jurisdiction in which to hold patents.
