Mintz’s Jeffrey Moerdler Joins Former New York Governor David Paterson at Global Leaders in Real Estate Summit

Mintz Member Jeffrey A. Moerdler will join former New York Governor David Paterson at the 2017 Global Leaders in Real Estate Summit. Mr. Moerdler, a former Commissioner of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, will join the Governor at the summit’s keynote session, “Conversation with Former Governor Paterson.”

 

The discussion will focus on how security issues affect real estate ownership, investment, lending and operations. Governor Paterson and Mr. Moerdler will discuss security concerns as a result of major terrorist incidents around the world and issues related to iconic properties and transportation and entertainment venues. They will also discuss security concerns for individual property owners and operators and how to protect their property.

 

Mr. Moerdler has nearly 30 years of experience as a general commercial real estate attorney and works with many large national companies — particularly in the high-tech, telecommunications, financial services, health care, supermarket, and oil and gas sectors — as well as numerous smaller clients. He advises clients in all types of leases; counseling owners and developers in the acquisition, sale, development, and renovation of property; advising lenders and borrowers in commercial loans; and the representation of all parties in real estate litigation.

 

Mr. Moerdler was a Commissioner of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey for five and a half years and was Vice Chair of its Security and Audit Committees. He was very involved in many of its major real estate transactions servicing as the lead board member representing the board in structuring and negotiating transactions including the One World Trade Center public private partnership with The Durst Organization, the public private partnership on the retail space at the World Trade Center with Westfield and the 1.2 million square foot lease with Conde Nast. Mr. Moerdler’s previous governmental positions include serving as a member of the New York State Banking Board and a member of the New York State Financial Control Board.

 

Mr. Moerdler is also a New York State Certified Emergency Medical Technician, co-head of his local chapter of his volunteer ambulance service, a member of the Executive Board of the largest volunteer ambulance service in the United States, part of the response team when Capt. Sully Sullenberger landed U.S. Airways flight 1549 in the Hudson River on January 15, 2009 and his service’s incident commander for the response to the Spuyten Duyvil MetroNorth train derailment on December 1, 2013. 

 

The Global Leaders in Real Estate Summit, to be held on September 27-28, 2017 in New York City, will feature speakers sharing insights on the latest trends and forecasts in the world of trade, real estate investment, development, and finance.
