Mintz’s Pedro F. Suarez to Serve on Intellectual Property Owners Association’s Software and Business Methods Committee

Pedro F. Suarez, a Member in the Intellectual Property Section of Mintz, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C. has been invited to serve on the Intellectual Property Owners (IPO) Association’s Software and Business Methods Committee for the 2014-2015 term.

The IPO is a trade association that is comprised of owners of intellectual property and other parties interested in intellectual property law.  Over 200 companies and more than 12,000 individuals are involved in the association either through their companies or as an IPO inventor, author, executive, law firm or attorney members. IPO’s corporate members file approximately 30% of the patent applications filed in the USPTO each year by U.S. nationals.
 
The association advocates for reforms of patent, trademark and other intellectual property laws that it believes will advantage its members and the users of intellectual property systems.

Mr. Suarez’s practice focuses on all aspects of patent law, including the preparation and prosecution of patent applications, the rendering of opinions on infringement and validity, patent monetization, licensing, IP due diligence investigations in M&A transactions, litigation, and client counseling, with an emphasis on software, wireless communications, semiconductors, image processing, medical devices, wireless medical devices, and consumer products. He has extensive experience in handling patent matters for emerging and global high-technology companies, and draws on his litigation experience to prepare and prosecute patents with an eye towards enforcement.
