Energy and Climate Happenings – Overview for the Remainder of 2015

The Obama Administration’s release of the final Clean Power Plan kicked off a busy second half of the year for climate and energy policy issues. As climate issues increasingly become an important part President Obama’s legacy, and as we march closer and closer to the end of the year international climate negotiations in Paris, read on for a list of the upcoming high level energy and climate events that are sure to transform the industry:

  • EPA Methane Rule: Released August 18;
  • Minority Leader Harry Reid’s Annual Clean Energy Summit: August 24; Keynote Speaker President Obama;
  • Global Leadership in the Arctic: Cooperation, Innovation, Engagement and Resilience (GLACIER): August 31; President Obama will address the conference;
  • White House Voluntary Climate Initiatives Event: September 15
  • Papal Visit to DC: September 22-24;
  • White House Offshore Wind event: September 28
  • EPA Ozone Rule: Due October 1;
  • Several UN text negotiating sessions in preparation for Paris: throughout the fall
  • 21st Session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP21/CMP11): International Climate Negotiations - Paris 2015; November 30-December 11;
