Mintz Levin Attorney Aaron Tidman Honored as a City Year Idealist of the Year

Aaron M. Tidman, a Senior Associate in the White Collar Criminal Defense & Parallel Proceedings section of Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C., has been named an Idealist of the Year by the non-profit City Year. The award, presented at the Idealism in Action Gala on May 12th, recognizes volunteers in the corporate world who embody the spirit of idealism and have shown a commitment to improving the Washington D.C. region.

An LGBT rights activist, Mr. Tidman has dedicated hundreds of hours volunteering for the Velvet Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to the establishment of a National LGBT Museum in the nation’s capital, and working pro bono for such organizations as Lamda Legal. He also represented three Guantanamo Bay detainees during their habeas corpus petitions in U.S. District Court for D.C., co-authored an amicus curiae brief on behalf of the National Network to End Domestic Violence, and contributed to many other pro bono matters over the past several years. In recognition of his dedication to pro bono causes, the D.C. Court of Appeals and D.C. Superior Court appointed him to its inaugural Capitol Pro Bono High Honor Roll in 2011, and the National LGBT Bar Association named Mr. Tidman one of the Best LGBT Lawyers Under 40 – Class of 2013.

Mr. Tidman’s practice focuses on white-collar criminal defense, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act internal investigations and compliance reviews, and securities litigation. He has extensive experience handling a variety of white-collar matters, including insider trading investigations, corporate governance investigations, Arms Export Control Act investigations, and other financial fraud investigations and enforcement matters brought by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the U.S. Department of Justice.
